Our Community in Action

When we work together, we build a cleaner, kinder community for everyone. It is always a treat when our local news partners help us share the stories of our staff, volunteers, and the neighbors who make our programs possible.

Recent News Highlights

We love seeing our community’s efforts captured in photos and stories. Here are some of the recent features from around town:

  • 9th Year of Repair Cafes Kicks Off (February 2024) The Maple Ridge News caught up with us as we started our ninth year of fixing things together. It’s wonderful to see how this program has grown!
  • Celebrating 50 Repair Cafes (May 2023) A big milestone for our volunteers! We celebrated our 50th event at the Albion Community Centre.
  • A “Fixer” Focus: Profile on Our Volunteers The Pitt Meadows Today highlighted the heart and soul of our Repair Cafes, the people who give their time to help others.
Ridge Meadows Recycling Society award plaque for top collector 2023.

Awards & Community Recognition

We are humbled by the recognition we’ve received for our commitment to environmental education and social inclusion.

  • King Charles III Coronation Medal (2024) Our very own Leanne Koehn was recognized for her years of service to the environment and our community.
  • Top 3 Oil Collection Depot in B.C. (2023) For several years running, we’ve been named a Top Collector by the BC Used Oil Management Association. This award belongs to all of you who bring your oil and antifreeze to the depot!

Important Community Updates

Not sure where it goes? We can help. When big changes happen to how we recycle, we work with the media to make sure everyone has the right information.

  • Transitioning Curbside Collection (2020-2021) As the city transitioned curbside services to Recycle BC, we worked closely with local news to ensure a smooth changeover for our neighbors.
