At the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society, we believe that everything has a place and every item has potential. Our depot is more than just a spot to drop off your recyclables. It’s a community hub where we work together to reduce waste, support local reuse, and treat our environment with the care it deserves.
Whether you are clearing out your garage or thinning out your bookshelves, we are here to make the process simple, inclusive, and rewarding. Books
Whether it’s a well-loved novel or a heavy textbook, we make sure your books find the best possible home. Our goal is to keep books in circulation or recycle them properly so they stay out of our local landfill.
How It Works: Take a Book, Leave a Donation
We believe in the power of sharing! Before books are officially sorted, we invite you to browse our collection bin.
- Find something you love: You’re more than welcome to pick through and take any books that catch your eye.
- Support the community: If you find a treasure, we just ask for a small cash donation in return. This helps us keep our programs running and accessible for everyone.
Where Do the Books Go?
Once our staff sorts the bins, we give every book its best shot at a new life:
- Resale: Most books are sent to a local partner company to be sold and read again.
- Recycling: For those books that are a bit too worn out to read, we “deconstruct” them, carefully separating the paper so it can be recycled into something new.
Bikes
Got an old bike gathering dust in the garage? We’d love to help you clear some space while giving someone else a set of wheels.
What We Accept
We’re happy to take a variety of items for reuse or recycling, including:
- Bicycles of all sizes
- Children’s electric cars
- Scooters
Visit Our Reuse Area
Not sure where it goes? We can help. We have a designated reuse area right here at the depot. For a small fee, you can “re-home” these items, giving a neighbor a chance to enjoy a refurbished ride at an affordable price. If an item is beyond repair, don’t worry, we’ll make sure the metal and parts are recycled properly.
