Your partners in building a brighter, more colorful community.
Have you ever started a small DIY project or a quick touch-up around the house, only to realize that buying a full gallon of paint is expensive and wasteful? Or perhaps you’re a local artist looking for a splash of inspiration?
At Ridge Meadows Recycling Society, we believe that “leftover” doesn’t mean “useless.” Our PaintShare Program is a community favorite that puts perfectly good paint back into the hands of neighbors who can use it.
What is PaintShare?
PaintShare is a simple, eco-friendly way for residents and local organizations to pick up leftover paint, completely free of charge. Instead of sending these cans off for processing, we set them aside at our Depot so they can be useful again.
Ready to start your next project or drop off your unwanted paint? Come by the Depot located at 10092 236th Street, Maple Ridge, and see how we make it easy for you to save the environment!
How it works:
- Visit the Depot: Head to the dedicated PaintShare area at the Recycling Depot – 10092 – 236th Street, Maple Ridge.
- Browse the Selection: Our inventory is always changing. Paint is available on an “as-is, as-available” basis.
- Take what you need: Found the perfect shade for that birdhouse or accent wall? It’s yours!
Check out the beautiful mural at our Depot! Created in December 2025 by local artist Alex Neff, this piece was painted entirely with reclaimed PaintShare colors to show just what’s possible when we think outside the bin.
Want to Donate Your Paint? PaintShare Do’s & Don’ts
Not sure if your paint qualifies?
While we love giving paint a second life, we also want to ensure everyone stays safe. If you are dropping off paint for the program, please follow these simple requirements:
- Keep it original: Paint must be in its original container with the label intact.
- Make sure it’s usable: We only share paint that hasn’t dried up or been contaminated.
- Don’t mix different paints together: Please don’t mix different types of paint together before bringing them to the depot. Our experts, and your neighbors need to know exactly what’s in the can.
In December, 2025, local artist Alex Neff worked with Depot staff to create a mural depicting the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society’s logo using reclaimed paint to highlight the PaintShare program.
Why PaintShare Matters
When we choose to share paint, we’re doing more than just saving a few dollars. We are working together to protect our local environment and support our creative community.
The Value of the Program:
- Cost-Effective: Let’s face it, home improvements can be pricey. PaintShare helps you complete your projects without spending a dime on supplies.
- Energy Efficient: Reusing existing paint saves valuable energy required to manufacture, package, and transport new products.
- Protecting our Water & Land: By keeping paint out of our sewers, drains, and landfills, we ensure our local ecosystems stay healthy and vibrant.
- Fueling Creativity: From student murals to local theatre sets, PaintShare provides the ink for our community’s imagination.
